Crow's feet: What it is, causes and treatments
Discover what they are, their main causes and the most effective treatments to reduce them and recover a rejuvenated look.
What are they?
Crow’s feet are small, fine, superficial wrinkles that form around the eyes, especially visible when smiling, laughing or making frequent gestures. They appear because the skin in this area is very delicate, thin and fragile, and over time it loses collagen, elastin and the natural capacity for regeneration. Factors such as age, unprotected sun exposure, smoking, stress, environmental pollution and certain unhealthy lifestyle habits accelerate their development. Although they represent a natural and inevitable sign of the aging process, nowadays there are numerous treatments and specific care to prevent their appearance, attenuate their depth and smooth them out, achieving a brighter, fresher and visibly rejuvenated look.
Why do they appear?
Crow’s feet appear mainly due to the progressive loss of collagen and elastin in the skin over time. This area of the face is particularly thin, delicate and sensitive, which makes it more prone to be marked by repeated facial movements, such as smiling, laughing intensely, speaking expressively or squinting in front of the light. Over the years, these small wrinkles become deeper and more permanent. In addition, external factors such as continuous exposure to the sun, daily stress, smoking, environmental pollution, alcohol consumption or lack of hydration significantly accelerate their formation. Together, all these elements contribute to crow’s feet being one of the first visible signs of facial aging.
