How to remove pimple marks with aesthetic treatments
Discover what they are, why they appear and which are the most effective cosmetic treatments to eliminate the marks of pimples, achieving a more uniform, luminous and healthy skin.
What are they?
Pimple marks are skin alterations that remain after an acne outbreak has healed. They originate from an inflammatory response that damages the superficial or deep layers of the skin, generating dark spots (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation), redness or scars with irregular relief. These marks can vary in shape, color and depth depending on the type of acne, the intensity of the inflammation and the skin type of each person. Factors such as handling pimples, unprotected sun exposure or inadequate treatments can make them worse. Although they tend to be persistent, there are multiple aesthetic options -such as peelings, laser or microneedling- that help regenerate the skin and restore a uniform and rejuvenated appearance.
Why do they appear?
Pimple marks appear as a result of the inflammatory process that occurs when a pore becomes clogged with oil, bacteria or dead cells. During inflammation, the skin tries to repair itself by producing collagen, but if too much or not enough collagen is produced, scars or irregularities form. In addition, factors such as handling pimples, squeezing or scratching the skin aggravate the damage and increase the risk of scarring. Unprotected sun exposure can also darken residual spots, known as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Other factors, such as hormonal imbalances, genetic predisposition and lack of proper hygiene or treatment, contribute to acne lesions leaving visible signs on the skin.
